How to enter?

Write a small article for this contest and publish it on LaTeX-Community.org. The topic of this contest is: Recent developments in LaTeX. Send your text in HTML, text or TeX format to stefan@latex-community.org or use the contact form to get a login to write directly on the site. And have a look at: How to write articles.

What to write?

You're free to choose, as long as it's related to the topic. Well, recent may mean some years, it's not very strict. The topic is intended to honour great additions to standard LaTeX like new packages such as biblatex and TikZ, new features such as in modern KOMA-Script classes, and new engines such as XeTeX and LuaTeX, just to name some. Perhaps you know especially interesting features, or can show nice examples, or tell us about installing and using. The article doesn't need to be long. You could write it like you would write a blog post.

Who wins?

We all win by writing and reading interesting texts. And one will win the book! A jury will select the winner of the book, and the jury consists of the admins and moderators of LaTeX-Community.org, which are Sven, Thorsten, Joseph, Clemens, and Stefan. Of course the jury respect the opinion of all readers, so you can also vote on articles, the jury's judgement will also base on those votes. And it would be great if you would post comments on the articles. The decision of the judges is legally binding; there is no recourse to legal action. After all, it's a community contest and should be fun for us all. The winner will get a download code for the InformIT site, which he can use to obtain a free copy of the LaTeX Companion ebook.

Deadline

The contest will close on November 10, 2013, so we have got three weeks. Winners will be published on the site, and will be contacted by email, so be sure to provide your email address where we can contact you.

Contributions

A list of published will be right here, and updated each time an article has been published. The earlier your article is online, the more time is to vote on it. Providing HTML speeds it up. If you like an article: it would be great if you comment on it! What you liked, what further ideas do you have about this topic. Feedback is very welcome by authors. If you already read an article, it's still a good idea to visit the article again and to comment on it.

Looking back

We already had a contest last year. Here you can see the results: The Winners of the LaTeX and Graphics Contest. Your chance may be even higher this time, since two of the competitors last time are in the moderator team now and can only attend in the jury, and at least three of the former attendees already got the book also as ebook version, as I know. Good luck! Slashdot friends: it would be great if you would upvote the story submission at slashdot, so the story will become visible there, to win participants, thanks!
